Chief Science Officer (CSO) is a nationwide program, and the Chief Science Officers (CSOs) are students in grades 6-12 who serve as STEM ambassadors and liaisons for STEM opportunities in their communities. On November 18, the 2025 Knoch High School CSOs Owen Gillis, Carter Manzer, Ethan Lauer, and Jack McCool traveled to LECOM in Erie, PA where they heard lectures from professionals, toured the building, worked at stations in the pharmacy lab, and used an ultrasound machine to see their wrists.
Last month, the CSOs received leadership training and toured the Moonshot Museum in Pittsburgh. The CSOs are working on a program that will use STEM and illusions to share the fun side of science with the Knoch School District students, staff, and community. This is the first year Knoch has participated in the CSO program. Please stay tuned for their upcoming projects.
