Students Send Much-Needed Holiday Cards

Miss McLafferty's 9th and 10th grade LS English students have been learning various forms of figurative language. To apply their learning, they created their own Christmas card messages, using each of the different forms of figurative language. The students added their own drawings to the messages, and signed the cards "a student at Knoch High School." The students were given the opportunity to choose recipients of the cards, with the guidelines that it should be individuals who most likely are not receiving many cards or gifts. This year, the students chose 5 locations for the cards: Butler County Prison, Concordia Nursing Home, Summit Academy, Lenape Wellness Center (mental health facility), and children in foster care in Butler County. The students made a total of about 200 cards, and they have already received positive feedback from staff at each location expressing recipient appreciation for the cards.
